Scenario

Recently, the municipal water supply had a catastrophic failure that caused a water outage for 2 days. At the time, your department did not have any equipment to implement a water shuttle operation due to the reliability of the municipal water system. During the outage, your department was required to rely on mutual aid departments to implement drafting and water shuttle operations, which increased the time required to implement a reliable fire flow for mitigation of fire incidents. There are several static and moving water sources in the response area.

Due to this circumstance, you were assigned with researching what would need to be purchased to outfit each engine in the fleet with the necessary equipment to implement a drafting and water shuttle operation. At this point in the process, you do not need to determine any cost associated with the purchase of the equipment. Also, it is not necessary to debate between various name brands of equipment discussed.

Create a PowerPoint presentation that will illustrate to your department’s command staff what equipment is needed for each engine company and why it is needed. As part of the presentation, add a voiceover as if you were giving the presentation in a command staff meeting. The presentation must be at least 8 slides. While you may detail the various items needed throughout the presentation, the last content slide(s) in the body should detail a complete list of all the equipment needed. If necessary, the list may be contained on multiple slides to ensure the command staff can clearly read the list at a later date.
