Job Exploration: Your Plan

This week, you are exploring different career options available in the legal profession. In the Unit 5 Assignment, you will use the information provided about the program and classes, combined with your intended career and academic goals, to reflect on your future endeavors as a student and as a practitioner.

Using online career/employment sites, law-related websites, and the Library, search for jobs in the legal profession or in a closely related field. After you have explored the job listings, choose two jobs that interest you.

For each job you selected, complete the Unit 5 Assignment Template with the following information:

In the table on the template, please address the following:

List the job title and job description and, if applicable, the area of specialization.

List the skills needed for the job, taken both from the job description and your own analysis of the job. Be sure to list at least five skills.

Explain why each of the skills listed in #2 would be needed to succeed in the position you have selected.

In the Summary portion, please respond to the following questions:

Research and explain how the skills for the jobs are related to your professional goals. Be sure to support your assessments by citing credible sources.

Discuss why you are interested in the selected jobs and describe the strategy you would use to achieve the skills needed for the jobs you selected. Why will you be successful?

Describe your research process and include what search terms were used, what databases were searched and why, and how you identified the articles that were appropriate.

You will also use this information for your Final Project. The person that you interview for the Final Project should be working in one of the jobs that you selected.

Note: This Assignment will require outside research. Use at least two credible sources beyond the text material. You may consult the Library, the internet, the textbook, other course materials, and any other outside resources in supporting your task, using proper citations in APA style.

Required Criteria:

In addition to fulfilling the specifics of the Assignment, a successful paper must also meet the following criteria:

Paper should be written in APA format and follow APA Guidelines, 6th ed.

Length should be 2–3 pages and will include a title page and reference page, which are not included in the page count.

Double-spaced and in a 12-point font

Viewpoint and purpose should be clearly established and sustained

Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard American English (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.).

Writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful.

Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.

The paper should include at least two citations cited using proper APA style. Source may include your textbook and/or other scholarly sources.

Your paper should be a Word document. Submit your paper to the Unit 5: Assignment Dropbox by the end of Unit 5. When you are ready to submit, select the unit Dropbox.
