Verbal and Nonverbal Communication at Work

You have been hired as a consultant to present on verbal and nonverbal communication best practices in the workplace. The company that has hired you is concerned that they have seen an increase in misunderstandings between employees and they attribute it to poor communication. Specifically, they have been noticing contradictions between verbal and nonverbal cues.

Please prepare a PowerPoint presentation that will address the expressed needs of the company. Be sure to create one slide for each of the topics below and use the notes section to offer speaking notes, including a minimum of three relevant citations.

Using the Unit 4 Assignment Template, please respond to the following:

Slide 1: Title Slide

Slide 2: What is verbal communication? Provide two examples to illustrate the importance of accurate verbal communication in interpersonal interactions in the workplace.

Slide 3: What are the four principles of verbal communication? Provide a minimum of two examples of how they can be applied in the workplace.

Slide 4: What is nonverbal communication? What is the importance of accurate nonverbal communication in interpersonal interactions in the workplace?

Slide 5: What are the four principles of nonverbal communication? Provide one example for each of the four principles to illustrate what they look like applied in the workplace.

Slide 6: Identify at least three types nonverbal cues. What do they look like applied successfully in the workplace?
