Question 1 Why should you create an alphabetical list of your sources in the References page at the end of your document and also give credit to the sources when you quote or paraphrase them by using signal phrases and in text citations?

You would list references in alphabetical order on the reference makes the audience aware of where in your paper the information comes . Alphabetical order is the rules established by APA . Also, this from making it easier to determine what thoughts are your original thoughts from other sources  to avoid plagiarism. Not listing in- text citations with the reference from where the source comes from would be considered plagiarism. The reference page allows credit for all sources within your paper and if not listed may be viewed as plagiarism

Question 5 Review the following paragraphs from a source:

Paragraphs from a Source “One of the most damaging consequences of media’s images of women and men is that these images encourage us to perceive normal bodies and normal physical functions as problems. It’s understandable to wish we weighed a little more or less, had better developed muscles, and never had pimples or cramps. What is neither reasonable nor healthy, however, is to regard healthy, functional bodies as abnormal and unacceptable. Yet this is precisely the negative self-image cultivated by media portrayals of women and men.” Wood, J. (1998). Our Body, Our Image: How the Media Hurts Our Sense of Self. New York: Longman. Retrieved from ebooks.com

Now review the following paragraph from a student essay:

Paragraph from a Student Essay A damaging consequence of media’s images of women and men is that these images encourage us to think of normal bodies and normal physical functions as problems. It’s totally understandable to wish we weighed a little more or less, had bigger muscles, and never had pimples or cramps. What is neither reasonable nor healthy, however, is to think of healthy, functional bodies as abnormal and unacceptable. But this is precisely the negative self-image cultivated by media portrayals of women and men (Wood, 1998).

Is this plagiarism? Why or why not?

Yes, this is plagiarism . Here the author does cite sources correctly even though it is cited at the end. The next thing I noticed was  the word choice used are almost exactly as the previous written work There is no integration of work , no quotations used within the paragraph . To me it seems that the author isn't paraphrasing in his own words giving credit to the source.

Question 6 Review the following paragraphs from a source:

Paragraph from a Source “One of the most damaging consequences of media’s images of women and men is that these images encourage us to perceive normal bodies and normal physical functions as problems.

Paragraph from a Student Essay 2 A casual glance at any fashion magazine makes the point—we need to weigh less, have clearer skin, larger breasts if we are women, and more hair if we are men. As Wood (1998) points out, media images “encourage us to perceive normal bodies and normal physical functions as problems” (p. 300). This media-generated perception--that our perfectly normal bodies must be altered to be acceptable--is changing how we perceive our own bodies and negatively impacting our society (Wood, 1998).

Is this plagiarism?

No, this is not plagiarism , the author used quotes when including source within the paragraph. also although some of the information was paraphrased the information in his own words the author  cite it correctly .

Question 7 Imagine that you are writing an academic essay and you have located three relevant and reliable sources you can use to help support, clarify and develop your ideas. What strategies might you use to avoid over reliance on sources and avoid plagiarism?

I would start by reading all material to get a better understanding of what is being said so that I could paraphrase it in my own words . I would use less quotes  and if I did use sources I would use the highlight method so that when I was doing my final version I would know that I needed to properly cite the highlighted sources within my paragraphs and on the reference page.
