Pre-20th-Century Culture

Ancient Civilization of Persis or Persian 536-336 BC

The Persian Empire became the largest and most powerful civilization under Cyrus and Darius until that point. Persia was famous for royal road that connected Sardis to Sousa facilitating the transfer of trade and knowledge. Not only did the Greeks influence the Persians, but the Persians heavily influenced the Greeks.

Your assignment is to revisit the pre-20th-century Ancient Civilization of Persian and detail what had happened in their exact region of planet Earth by the end of the 20th century. For example, if the culture was an indigenous people who lived in western XYZ between the 10th and 13th centuries, profile the changes to both the area itself and the culture of the people living in (or dominant culture of) western XYZ at the end of the 20th century.

Contrast and compare the "old" culture with the "new" in terms of ALL 4 of the 4 columns we have been discussing; reference the states of technologycommercecommunications, and the arts in the time period you profiled previously and then also in that exact same region of the world at the end of the 20th century.

Discuss your observations in terms of questions such as:

What has remained?

What is no longer in evidence?

What has been gained?

What has been lost?
