Political Science homework 2
Paper – Collective and Uncivil Actions
Write a 1000 word paper researching civil action/change and uncivil change in a government regime. Discuss how a collective group (legal interest group) tries to change or influence government policy using legal collective actions. Research uncivil action for government change
Limit actions to within the past 10 years.
You can research one nation or two ( or more?) nations. This is a compare/contrast paper. DO NOT RESEARCH THE US.
Your paper should address the following:
Civil Actions
1. The legitimate group or groups (interest group for example). A terrorist group is not a legitimate group.
2. The goals or intent of the group – what this group(s) wants to accomplish.
3. Include specific collective actions and examples from your research. Collective actions are actions in which the public participates. Collective actions can include protests, letter writing, sit-ins, boycotts, etc. Be specific.
4. Have these actions been successful in the goals of the group?
Uncivil Actions
1. Actions could be terrorism, war, insurrections, rebellions, etc.
2. Discuss how a group tries to change or influence government or government policy using violence means.
3. Include specific actions and examples from your research. Have these actions been successful in the goals of the group?
4. Have these actions been successful in the goals of the group?
5. Make sure to use terminology from your readings.
Upload the paper to the D2L class by Sunday night (by 11:59PM) of the week due.
This is a research paper, not reflection paper. Do not include “I think . . I believe . . In my opinion”. Depersonalize the paper. This means that you should not use “we/us/our” in papers. Use nouns not pronouns and be specific.
