Over the course of history, key events have helped to shape the hospital system in the United States. Evaluate the impact of one of the following—the development of the modern health insurance industry, Medicare and Medicaid, or the Hill-Burton Act of 1946—on the development of the hospital system. How might our hospital system be different today had history been different? What influence did recent healthcare reform efforts (Affordable Care Act) have on the current U.S. healthcare system?
