In response to nuclear accidents, such as the Fukushima accident,  newer reactor designs have attempted to address the risk of losing the  cooling function during a severe power outage. Research and discuss the  following questions:

  • What are the differences between evolutionary and passive reactor designs?
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both designs.
