You are an Advanced Practice Nurse within a large health care system. You are part of the care team for Jane, a 55-year-old woman who for the past 6 months has been undergoing evaluation for atypical abdominal pain. Jane has been diagnosed with a rare tumor and following a second opinion at the nearby cancer treatment center, she has been recommended for a combination of surgical and oncologic measures (chemotherapy and radiation). Jane is married to Kim and they have an adopted 8-year-old boy. Kim, an artist, has been the primary childcare provider and Jane a software engineer has been the primary financial supporter for the household.
