1. Please reflect on the Mental Status Examination (MSE) in Chapter 10 of Diagnosis Made Easier. Choose one of the diagnoses you are learning from this week and relate it to the MSE.
2. What types of abnormalities would you find on the MSE or other parts of the H&P if you were considering Major Depressive Disorder, for example?
3. To continue this thought process, What types of behaviors would you look for? Would they be different in a kid verses an adult? Anything you would not expect to find?

1. Consider the assessment and diagnosis of major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder in adults (two of the most common psychiatric disorders seen in acute and outpatient settings)
a. Discuss how treatment for the two disorders is different and why it is different. What are some examples of specific pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions?
b. When performing a psychiatric evaluation why is it critical to have access to an immediate family or close friend to confirm information?
