Your response to your classmate's discussion should be around 50 words (each) and add to the discussion (i.e. reflecting on their response, asking questions, etc.).

1. Let’s say that prostitution is a frequently occurring crime in your community. Much of the public is ambivalent towards it and does not see any significant harm resulting from it. They would also prefer that law enforcement use their limited resources on crimes that have more of a visible “impact” on the safety and security of citizens. That said, you are a politician running for city council and a handful of people you care about have been involved in prostitution (ruining their lives and devastating the lives of their family members). How might you sway the existing public perception about this “victimless” crime in your speeches?

2. Clearly, there is much confusion and misinformation related to crime rates among the general public. This, of course, affects the way they live their lives. It also affects the billions of dollars that are spent domestically and locally on police and the criminal justice system. If you sat on a national committee tasked to shave 20 percent [changed from “%”] of the budget currently allocated towards “crime control,” what would you cut, and why?
