As you discovered in this lesson, understanding your own motivation boosters and deflators is as important as understanding those of your employees. In this assessment, you will have an opportunity to assess your own motivation boosters and deflators and then apply the concept to a known entity – your current small business, workplace, or team. To complete this activity, refer to page 216 in your textbook and the list of 10 things an employee gives to an organization in the Check Your Prior Knowledge section of this lesson.
Instructions: This assessment has three parts. You should respond to each section independently. Your response should completely address all parts of the question. Make sure and cite any references within each section.
Compose your response to the assignment in a word processing program. Run spell-check. Review your work to make sure that you completely answered all questions. Copy your work by simultaneously holding down the Ctrl and A keys to select the text, and then simultaneously hold down the Ctrl and C keys to copy it. Paste your document into the online submit form by inserting your cursor in the submit box, and simultaneously hold down the Ctrl and V keys.
1. Motivation Boosters
Select three motivation boosters that help you perform at your best. Explain why you selected these three boosters and how they impact your performance. Also discuss what you are willing to give an organization (from the list of 10) when you are motivated, engaged, happy, and satisfied.
2. Motivation Deflators
Select three motivation deflators that prevent you from performing at your best. Explain why you selected these three deflators and how they impact your performance. Also discuss what you are willing to give an organization (from the list of 10) when you are unmotivated, disengaged, unhappy and unsatisfied.
3. Motivation Essay
Write an essay that has an introduction, body and conclusion that describes how you intend to apply the concepts from this lesson to your small business, workplace, or team. Be sure to discuss how you will create an environment where employees can give you the ultimate gift of creativity and innovation.
