Overview

With the rise of technological advances in communication, it is now easier than ever to interact with someone on the other side of the world in a matter of seconds. For organizations looking to expand worldwide, these advances can be a tremendous asset. However, they can also create cultural misunderstandings and barriers between organizations attempting to communicate with other organizations, clients, customers, or the general public. If these cultural barriers are not handled swiftly and appropriately, tensions can escalate and cause significant issues beyond the professional world that affect innocent lives.

Write a short paper discussing cultural misunderstandings and barriers caused by technological advances.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

• Cultural Misunderstandings and Barriers: Describe at least two cultural misunderstandings or barriers that could be a result of communicating through modern technology with people from different geographical regions or cultures.
• Negative Implications: Explain how the cultural misunderstandings or barriers you identified can negatively impact the relationship between the people and the organizations involved. Be sure to identify how advances in technology can either create or worsen these negative impacts.
• Future Solutions: Explain how these cultural misunderstandings or barriers could be overcome or prevented when using technology to communicate with international cultures in the future. Also, be sure to discuss why it is important to be aware of cultural misunderstanding or barriers when using technology to communicate with those from cultures or geographical regions different from your own.
