Ethics provide assurances for the field of public administration in several different ways. Public administrators are given guidelines to adhere to in their daily processes and procedures. Co-workers in the public sector can feel secure about the standards of operation, and they have clear expectations of how others will interact with their work environment. In addition, the subscription to ethics assures the community that there is an atmosphere of integrity in the implementation of public resources.

It is important for students to understand the value of ethics in the field of public administration. A solid understanding of a code of ethics can ensure students have a solid framework for their own integrity and commitment to ethics in public administration.

Review the code of ethics and 8 principles for public administrators according to American Society of Public Administration at:https://www.aspanet.org/ASPA/Code-of-Ethics/ASPA/Code-of-Ethics/Code-of-Ethics.aspx

Select one or two principles that you feel are the most important and explain why. Next, propose any additions or changes to the ethics code that you feel is missing or should be removed. Explain your thoughts in a comprehensive manner.
