Background

One aspect of being an effective manager is leadership. Leadership research indicates that cognitive intelligence (IQ) and technical skills are far less important to leadership success than self-awareness. Self-awareness is a key component of Emotional Intelligence (Showry & Manasa, 2014). The authors stated evidence points to the fact that self-awareness is really the pillar of managerial capability that predicts managerial effectiveness and leadership success.

Instructions

This assignment has three parts:

1. Complete the Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS) tool located below. This tool will help you gauge your level of skill competence as a manager.

2. Complete the Kolbe Assessment located below. This tool will help you measure your way of doing things. The result is called your method of operation. You only need to complete the free assessment.

3. After completing both assessments, reflect on the questions below.

· Which skills rated the lowest on the assessment?

· Which skills rated the highest on the assessment?

· Which areas surprised you most from either assessment?

· Based on the information you have learned regarding effective leadership skills, to what extent do you feel prepared to become a fair leader?

· What area do you feel needs improvement?

Prepare a 3–5-minute video (showing you talking or showing a PowerPoint presentation with you explaining each slide) explaining how you would use the strengths identified in your PAMS and Kolbe Assessment results. Be specific in your discussion.

Length: 3–5-minute video of yourself in Kaltura Video or of PowerPoint slides with audio narration.

References: Include a minimum of 2 scholarly resources.
