Knowing Your Authentic Self Unit 2
Self-Awareness
“Self-awareness involves reflection and introspection to gain insights into life’s pressing questions. These questions pertain to identity, purpose, meaning, truth in the world, being authentic, creating a life worth living, and fulfilling one’s potential…” (Seligman, 2011, p. 150).
“As human beings, we have many aspects to our character. We are constantly evolving, as we test ourselves in the world, are influenced by it, and adapt to our environment – all to fin our unique place. But you must be true to yourself and follow your True North. If you know who you are, you can achieve what you seek from life and overcome the obstacles you face” (George, 2015, p. 82).
Emotional Intelligence (or EQ) “When Stanford Graduate School of Business asked its advisory council the most important capability for leaders to develop, their answer was nearly unanimous: self- awareness” (George, 2015, p. 84)
