By now, you are experiencing how a team can self-manage or something close to it. Here is a mini-case study for you that will link to some concepts learned from Unit 1. A self-managing team (Karl, Clarissa, Ron, Sarah, and Tamara), are discussing their budget for next year. Discuss the ethical issues raised from the following transactions:
- Karl suggests adding some additional money to the budget, just in case. This greatly violates Clarissa’s moral code, but she remains silent during the meeting.
- Ron keeps silent because he believes the team looks down upon his personal culture and background.
- Sarah believes the whole meeting is wasting everyone’s time anyway because the team does not have enough information to create a realistic budget.
- Tamara agrees that Karl is right and calls for a vote.
How do you believe these ethical issues relate to the transactional and task processes of the team? Validate your argument with what you learned last week and continue to learn this week.
