My Life in Middlemarch, a series of personal reflections
In 2014, Rebecca Mead published a memoir entitled My Life in Middlemarch, where she reflects upon her experience of reading Middlemarch at different points in her life. This extra credit assignment asks you to mimic (in brief) this type of memoir by reflecting on your experience of reading Middlemarch at this particular stage of your life.
Requirements:
· You must write a one-paragraph reflection for each book, so your paper will be approximately 8 paragraphs long (it’s okay if you go a bit over this). You can either stitch the paragraphs together into one cohesive paper, or make them each separate entries (like a reading journal)
· Unlike your other work for this class, this writing should be personal. Consider the following questions:
a. What is your experience of reading Middlemarch like? Are you loving it? Hating it? Why?
b. How does what your reading in Middlemarch relate to your own life? Are there particular characters or events that you relate to? In other words, where do you see your life in Middlemarch?
c. What (if any) insights or life lessons are you taking away from Middlemarch?
· Final papers are due in class on Thursday, April 16th. Extensions will not be granted and late papers will not be accepted.
