Stage 04: System Deployment Decision Paper Instructions
Page 1 of 6 ( Text Book- Systems Analysis and Design Tenth Edition, 2013 or 2014 Shelly Cashman).
Introduction
Before you begin this assignment, be sure you have read the Udo, Marian, & Uduak
Corporation () Case Study. Also, you should review your completed Stage 1 – 3
assignments and the Stage 5 individual assignment to get an understanding of the final
project that builds on this stage.
Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment gives you the opportunity to apply the course concepts to develop a
System Deployment Decision Paper for the new billing and payment system. This
assignment specifically addresses the following course outcomes to enable you to:
• Plan, build, and maintain systems that meet organizational strategic goals by
applying enterprise architecture and enterprise governance principles and
practices
• Achieve successful systems design, development, and implementation by
effectively applying the role of systems engineering and integrating with project
management
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders to determine, manage, and document
business requirements throughout the SDLC
• Perform modeling to assist with analysis and decision making
• Translate business requirements into systems by applying appropriate SDLC
methodologies and incorporating industry best practices
The Deliverable
Using the Udo, Marian, & Uduak Corporation () Case Study and your stage 1, 2,
and 3 projects, develop a decision paper that serves as a system "sign-over" document
for system deployment and transfer of responsibility for the newly designed and
implemented system to the IT organization. The paper will describe and demonstrate
what business problem was solved by the new system, what business processes were
improved, and how the system was designed, developed, and implemented through the
SDLC methodology. In addition, develop use cases for human interactions, document
user training approach, and identify maintenance activities for the new system. Ensure
that the approaches and processes, etc., are applicable to and appropriate for the Udo,
Marian, & Uduak Corporation.
Create a document that includes the following:
• The paper should be 8 – 10 pages (single-spaced) in length.
• Cover and a Works Cited page are also required. These are not included in the
page count.
• The Cover page must include an appropriate title and your name.
• Use the Works Cited page to correctly cite and reference any sources you use
with APA format.
• Table of Contents that uses links to take the reader to the desired heading and
page. Students should use the Microsoft Word Table of Contents feature located
under the References tab to ensure the table works correctly. The Table of
Contents is not included in the page count.
• Use the Grading Rubric to be sure you have covered everything.
• Submit your paper via your Assignment Folder as a Microsoft Word with your last
name included in the filename.
• Business Problem
o This should include a brief commentary describing the existing information
system and its shortcomings.
o You may want to include a process diagram if needed for clarity.
• Business Process Improvement
o This should include a brief commentary describing the proposed new
billing and payment system and its justification.
o You may want to include a process diagram if needed for clarity.
• SDLC design, development, and implementation
o This should include a brief commentary describing what development
methodology was used for design, development and implementation.
Some methodologies include Waterfall, JAD, RAD, and Agile. Be sure to
justify your choice and explain how it was used to develop the system.
o Use graphics to represent the development cycle if required for clarity.
• Requirements Checklist
o Include the System Requirements Checklist you developed in Stage 1 to
reflect feedback received during the scoring process. IFSM 461: Systems Analysis and Design

• Use Case Diagrams for human interactions
o Create three (3) use case diagrams for the new billing and payment
system, one for each of the three main users:
_ CFO
_ Accounts Receivable
_ Invoicing
• Your use cases should be diagrammed and be similar to the ones included in the
textbook, Systems Analysis and Design, Page 235 – 238.
• User training
o This should include a brief commentary describing how you plan to train
the users on the new billing and payment system; it should include the
people involved, the training process and the timing.
• Maintenance activities
o This should include a brief commentary describing what plans you have
put in place to maintain the new billing and payment system; it should
include corrective, adaptive, perfective and preventive maintenance
activities.
