History - Since the first day of class
History
Since the first day of class, we have discussed how history is an account of the past, and that there is no one single version of history, rather a series of different perspectives. With this understanding of history in mind, discuss the American experience of Native Americans, women, African-Americans (free and enslaved) and people of European descent from the colonial era into the 1840s. How are their experiences similar, how are they different? Why do these similarities and/or differences exist? Provide three specific examples for each group that come from different points within the defined timeframe. No outside research is permitted. The paper must be argued from class notes and reading materials (textbook and reader). The lecture notes and textbook will be the structure of your argument. The primary reader materials will be the sources for your argument. The chapters covered for this paper are Chapters 1 through Chapter 10.
