Textbook Definition of Modernity

Modernity – Constitution government recognizing popular sovereignty as basic for political power- the social contract.

1.  How does your textbook define modernity? 

2.  What does the Enlightenment have to do with the concept of modernity? 

3.  Choose one non-North American society in the western hemisphere and one in the eastern hemisphere.  Compare and contrast how these societies dealt with the western imposition of modernity. 

4.  Show change over time in both regions for your answer.  This is an essay, so don’t number your points; just make sure all four points above are included in your answer. 

5.  Have an introductory and closing paragraph. This essay should be AT LEAST one page in length.
