Introduction: After completing your assigned readings and reviewing the PowerPoint slides for this week, you should be able to demonstrate some basic knowledge of culture and culturally competent care.

Directions:

1) In a 2-3 page, double-spaced, narrative format, discuss each of the following questions. Separate your answers into three distinct segments.

· What is cultural competency? Elaborate on this.

· How is cultural competency different from cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity? Compare and contrast. Provide examples.

· What kind of experiences related to cultural diversity have you encountered in healthcare? How comfortable are you with your knowledge, ability, and skills to deliver culturally congruent care to patients of diverse cultures?

2) Attach your assignment as a Word document to the appropriate submission link on Canvas. Please ensure that your paper is collegiately prepared using appropriate spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. Citations and references should follow APA (7th ed.) guidelines.
