You might have to cluster tasks so you only have to make one trip around the house. You might have make one trip out the mail box each day and would benefit from doing other out doors chores at the same time.
Conserving energy can be the solution. While it is not a modification to the physical environment it is important t plan ahead. Thus might not be skill the older adult has practiced in some time.
Any thoughts on how to prepare the older adult to be better organized?
