Explain why genetic biodiversity is important for the survival of a species.
Genetic diversity (biodiversity) is the total number of genetic characteristics that is found in the genetic make up of a species. Genetic biodiversity plays a crucial role in the survival of a species. This is because it makes a species capable of adapting to suit itself to the new environments that they may find themselves in. When the habitat of a species changes, it may be required of the species to change or, risk death. The ability of the species to change will determine whether the species will be able t cope with the new environment and the challenges it comes with. The adaptability of the species will be determined by its genetic biodiversity.
