Background

A school counselor's effectiveness in providing direct services to students is contingent upon their understanding and application of counseling theories in their conversations, counseling sessions, interventions, etc.

Instructions

Review the following http://psychology.iresearchnet.com/counseling-psychology/counseling-theories/ information about counseling theories then select two theories to explore further. Using the Chart attached template answer the following questions in a separate word document.

Title–Name of Theory

Remember-List the basic tenants of the theory and key information.

Understand-Identify the key components that would determine if this theory was applied with efficacy.

Apply-Discuss how a school counselor would use this theory.

Analyze-Describe the strengths and limitations of this theory.

Evaluate-Determine whether this theory is appropriate for use in school counseling and justify your stand.

Create- Create a scenario where this theory would be a good approach. Describe the client or situation and explain how the counselor applies the theory.
