Ladies and gentlemen...and Mixed Martial Arts!
Are those the words that YOU would use to describe this company!? This is, of course, how the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) "fans" on the TapouT website have described it!Well, apparently some of the biggest names in sport do feel the same way and do agree that this is a brilliant company and have invested in the genius direction of the future of TapouT- check out the SSBJ article in our Doc Sharing to learn more!
Thesports division has joined forces with one of the biggest names - TapouT, in the sport with one of the biggest buzz factors right now - Mixed Martial Arts!
Now, let's just pretend that we were invited to that meeting in Century City with "Mask", and that the CAA needs our help with their sport marketing plan for their new client TapouT! You may want to help them to "clean up their act" a bit too! (See the "warning" below!)
Therefore, it will be up to YOU, sport marketing "expert", to determine who YOU identify the TapouT's target market to be! Of course, there are some hints in the story and on the MMA and TapouT websites, but you need to narrowly define their target market based on what you have learned in your readings and work on your own Marketing Plan thus far.
For this Discussion, you will need to pick one select subgroup from that target market you have identified and describe that subgroup specifically in your Post. (Of course, everyone in the class will be doing this, and a lot of you will have similar responses on who the target market is, but don't be afraid to "dare to be different" with your subgroup selection! Based on MMA's rise in popularity, there are many subgroups that are watching or fighting...and ultimately buying TapouT products!)
Next, after you have identified the target market for TapouT and what on you have identified to be your chosen target market subgroup, you will need to identify a potential product for CAA to market with TapouT to MMA fans! For an example, see the bottled water product shown in the SSBJ article. (Keep in mind that you must pick something unique that hasnot been chosen by a classmate posting before you or that is a TapouT product currently!)
You will then need to describe and JUSTIFY why you believe this product would be a logical choice for TapouT to sell to YOUR target market subgroup. Why would this product sell, sell, sell for TapouT and ultimately MMA?
How would you market this TapouT product in the retail outlets!? Describe the "display" or technique you would create in a retail store, such as Dick's Sporting Goods, to increase attention and ultimately sales!
You will also need to state how this product will be marketed with the TapouT logo...where and when will we be able to see their marketing efforts during a MMA competition!? Be creative with this!
Knowing that some of you may have never viewed MMA before, or perhaps even heard of it, I thought it would be interesting to explore something different for this unit - an action sport in our business! Therefore, the first step in this assignment and for any good sport marketer, regardless of whether you are a "newbie" to the sport or a "fan", is to research the MMA and TapouT through their websites and the SSBJ article.
