NUR662 ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION IN NURSING EDUCATION
Module 5 Discussion
Providing Feedback
The NLN has established core competencies for nurse educators. (Links to an external site.)
Your discussion focuses on providing feedback and proceeds in four steps:
Familiarize yourself with adding audio to PowerPoint (Links to an external site.)
Choose one nursing student’s paper to provide feedback for:
a. Nursing Student 1 Download Nursing Student 1[Docx, file size 39 KB]
b. Nursing Student 2 Download Nursing Student 2[Docx, file size 24 KB]
Create meaningful audio feedback for the student using PowerPoint by providing:
a. At least two areas of excellence
b. At least two areas where you guide the student towards improving knowledge and or skill
Share your link to the audio feedback for the student assignment. Then, answer the following questions:
How do you think you met the criteria for effective feedback?
What is your opinion of audio versus written feedback?
Support your discussion with evidence-based literature.
Reflect on your own experience(s) with the feedback process and your accountability and competency as a nurse educator. Consider what some of the consequences to the stakeholders (students, faculty, or academic institution) may be, related to evaluation.
Post your primary response. Read any postings already provided by your instructor or fellow students. Read and respond to the conclusions drawn by at least two of your classmates. Remember to read the feedback to your own major postings and reply to it throughout the module.
You are expected to participate in academic conversations with peers and faculty to generate scholarly dialogue. Expectations for participation in the course discussions are described under the Discussion Rubric: Exploration, Spirit of Inquiry, and Engagement (interactions) when relating your experiences, opinions, viewpoints, and ideas supported by evidence.
Consult the Discussion Posting Guide for information about writing your discussion posts. It is recommended that you write your post in a document first. Check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors. When you are ready to make your initial post, click on "Reply." Then copy/paste the text into the message field, and click “Post Reply.”
To respond to a peer, click “Reply” beneath her or his post and continue as with an initial post.

Please review this rubric, located on the Rubrics page within the Start Here module of the course, prior to beginning your work to ensure your participation meets the criteria in place for this discussion.
