As a result, the burden of birth control rests primarily on the woman’s shoulders.  Despite the increased cost and risk, six times more women have tubal ligations than men have vasectomies. One international response has been World Vasectomy Day (includes video, 3:29). This is a yearly initiative by health activists around the world to help dispel myths about this male sterilization procedure. Doctors participating in the event aim to perform as many vasectomies as possible, in 250 countries around the world, in 24 hours. Despite the vasectomy being a fairly non-invasive procedure, many men refuse to have it.

Part A

After watching this video, address the first question based on your thoughts supported by research. Include with your post the research references in APA style format. Post your reply by Tuesday. After posting begin your textbook reading to complete Part B and Part C.

Question #1: What do you think are some social, cultural, or psychological reasons why men are reluctant to get a vasectomy, while women are opting to have a tubal ligation?

By Thursday, create and post separately, two well-crafted questions for your classmates to answer. Each question must include at least 3 - 5 sentences of background information before the questions are asked. For the last part of the discussion, you will thoroughly respond to two of your classmate’s questions. Each classmate response must be at least 3 – 5 sentences. When responding to your classmate’s questions you must start with "CLASSMATE RESPONSE." This will assure that you are given proper credit for all posts.
