1. What are your thoughts on Alison as a character? What about her indicates she is still a child? How does she show herself to be an adult? In light of the rest of the story, consider the following quote as Alison imagines speaking to “some imaginary poor”: “Don’t you understand, all people deserve respect? Each of us is a rainbow” (4). What might the author be saying about the way Alison’s been raised?
