Retention of your employees is a key leadership skill for small business leaders. Retaining your employees is not an easy task and will take effort, but your employees and the success of your business are worth the effort. This assessment allows you an opportunity to plan or expand on a current or future retention strategy for your small business.
Instructions: This assessment has three parts. You should respond to each section independently. Your response should completely address all parts of the question. Make sure and cite any references within each section.

1. Retention Pitfalls
List three to five employee retention pitfalls. These are unseen areas that lead employees to leave the organization. Provide a brief description of the pitfalls and the impact these pitfalls have on the success of your small business, workplace, or team.
2. From Pitfalls to Retention Strategies
For each of the employee retention pitfalls you identified in Question 1(Retention Pitfalls), describe one retention strategy that will help a leader avoid or correct that pitfall. If you identified three pitfalls, you should have three retention strategies to match it. Discuss how the retention strategy you selected will impact the success of the small business, workplace, or team.
3. Retention Strategies
Write an essay that has an introduction, body and conclusion that describes how you intend to leverage your learning in this course to help you retain your current or future employees. Your response can include learning from all six of the lessons in this course. Be sure to link information from your textbook, lessons, and supplemental readings to your answer.
