Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) - Should the DBE program be abolished? While such programs may have been necessary 20 or more years ago, today are they simply a waste of taxpayer money? Many argue that the system still has its merits, some say it's riddled with excessive fraud, costs countless federal and state dollars to manage, and results in higher than necessary prices for goods and services on many government-funded projects. The question to you is: Should Congress abolish the statute and allow free enterprise to run its course?
Before posting a thread, search the Internet for a relevant article that sides with your initial feeling on this program. Search for "DBE Fraud" or DBE Advantages" and see what you can find. Then post a thread and argue either for or against the DBE program and cite the article you found, giving an example or two to support your side. Then return and read what your classmates have to offer on the subject and comment on at least one, preferably one that took the opposite stance that you did.
