You will be expected to prepare any supplemental material or attachments necessary to make your presentation understandable. Prepare an article length research paper on a topic relating to crisis communications and emergency management. Your topic proposal is subject to instructor approval. The length for the body of the paper should be approximately 12-15 pages double-spaced (approximately 250-300 words per page, for a total of about 3,000-5,000 words), not including the Title Page (with Statement of authorship), Table of Contents, Abstract, Tables, Appendixes (if any), and References. Assignment - Mid-Term Essay Exams

You will be required to complete and submit two open-book essay exams during the semester: a Midterm Essay Exam, and a Final Essay Exam. One week has been set aside at the mid-term point  during Week 6 to complete the Midterm Essay Exam, covering Weeks 1-5. Week 12 will serve as Finals Week, and be devoted to completion of the Final Essay Exam, covering Weeks 7-11. These are open-book exams, but they must be completed as individual assignments, and not as team or group assignments.

Each of the essay exams will consist of ten questions—two relating to each weekly session covered in that half of the course. You will be expected to select and respond to a total of five questions on each exam—one question pertaining to each of the five sessions covered.

A recommended overall length for your responses to each exam would be approximately 8-10 pages (i.e., a minimum of one page per question), and may be either double or single-spaced. Each completed exam must be submitted as a MS Word doc into your Assignments folder by the following deadlines:

Your score on each exam will comprise 15% of your final overall grade. I will provide you with specific, constructive feedback along with a numerical percentage score for each exam.
