The Presentation:
For this project, students will integrate their learning over the duration of their Community Health major career by proposing a multi-level health education or health promotion intervention. In so doing, students will prepare a video, or an audio YouTube PowerPoint presentation addressing the following components:
a) Chose a public health or community health behavioral issue you would like to design an intervention around
b) Provide background and some literature (statistics) on the public/community health issue, and your targeted population
c) A brief rationale for focusing the intervention on the specific public health issue and population targeted
d) Select two theories or models ( the Health Belief Model, The Transtheoretical Model and stages of change, Social Cognitive Theory, and the Social Ecological Model ) you would utilize in the intervention with rationale explaining why these theories are most appropriate to address your public health issue and why they will work well in combination.
e) Be sure to explain how you would apply the theories/models constructs to your project.
1. Introduction and Literature Review — Relates background of the Project, including a statement of the problem and aims of the Project.
Reviews existing body of knowledge (literature) or work on the subject.
2. Intervention Goals
3. Methods & Strategies — Expands the same section included in the Proposal. After reading this section, a professional in the student’s area of study should clearly understand the methodological models (or theory where applicable) and strategies thathe or she would use to deliver the intervention. Previously published procedures are referenced in the bibliography.
4, Results: Expected outcomes.
5. Recommendations/Implications — Clearly articulated set of discrete policy options with objective pros and cons and an action plan or a presentation of next steps to address the issues identified in the literature review.
6. Bibliography/References — Cites pertinent journal articles and reference texts using American Psychological Association (APA) reference format.
7. Tables, Figures/Illustrations & appendices
