Describe and evaluate three strategies, from the assigned reading and at least one another credible source, you can utilize to ensure conferences with parents – particularly with those from diverse groups – encourage open communication. In the article, Your policies, our children: Messages from refugee parents to child welfare workers and policymakers, refugee parents discuss their feelings about the parenting challenges faced by immigrants. When discussing the difficulties of parenting in a new country, one parent shared that “we feel our children are out of our hands.” After reading the article, discuss two specific challenges faced by immigrant families in relation to parenting and childcare. Considering these challenges, describe the role of the childcare program and educator.
