Let's start with an overview of the public sector in the global economy.  What specifically are we referring to when we say, "public sector," and why is the public sector involved in global business.  Put emphasis on policy-making.  Finally, as we progress throughout this module, engage your peers in a discussion of justifications for government intervention in the global economy.  We understand that there are significant benefits of the market, but that sometimes the market experiences various types of failures.  How can we take full advantage of market opportunities in the presence of potentially excessive government intervention (please feel free to reference GM in China here, too)?
