Judicial power can have a very significant effect on policy making in American politics, especially when the federal courts reinterpret the law or the Constitution. Supreme Court decisions are especially important in that they become the "law of the land" for the whole country. 

Choose a Supreme Court case from any chapter in your text in which the court’s decision created or changed a policy or previous law in the United States. Give the name and date.
