As discussed in this weeks PowerPoint lecture and readings, members of police subcultures can hold unique morals, values, beliefs and norms which may differ in certain crucial respects from those held by members of the wider American culture.

1. Does the existence of a police subculture impede the effectiveness of a professional police force in a democratic society?

For this weeks question focus on the principles of Democracy, what are the pillars of the system? What do we, as citizens expect of our city, state or federal government agencies? In turn, does a police subculture (and it's components) compliment or run counter to these ideals?
