Question A: Determinism challenges free will because determinism says things are already determined by the past event. Determinism the claim that all events are the necessary result of previous causes” (Lawhead 2018). “Libertarianism the thesis that we do have metaphysical freedom; a rejection of determinism” (Lawhead 2018). Libertarianism thinks there are choices and things can change due to your event. Free will is an illusion because most things in life there are only so many options. Therefore, are options are predetermined. Question B: “Compatibilism, the thesis that we are both determined and have the sort of freedom necessary to be morally responsible for our actions; sometimes called soft determinism” (Lawhead 2018). Compatibility explains moral responsibility better because it questions that something that is predetermined things could result in if the person had a choice or not. Works Cited Lawhead, William.
