Discussion - balance, outsourcing, and domestic demands

Discussion Question  

As we learned from our lesson notes, one way to maintain a Balance of Power is through  balance ,  outsourcing , and  domestic demands . As we learned from the  Orchestrating the Instruments of Power  assigned reading (CH. 4), these can also be elements of good grand strategies.

Discussion Prompt: Provide two examples of various states' national security strategies since 1930, and apply the aspects of  balance ,  outsourcing , and  domestic demands  to each to explain what shaped them and why each example failed or succeeded (ideal if you can provide an example of a succes and an example of a failure, but if both examples are either successes or failures, highlight the important differences between them as part of your post).
