DQ1 PICK A TARGET

Decide just how easy is it to select a target that would accomplish the goals of an organized terrorist group. Consider this your chance to identify the likely characteristics of an appropriate target. This exercise will sharpen your skills at selecting likely targets and, better yet, your abilities to prepare for such an event. Using your critical thinking skills, explain why this target is not only vulnerable, but why it is also relatively accessible and why it carries with it not just the potential for mass casualties and psychological trauma, but also symbolic importance.

DQ2 PROTECT A TARGET

In the previous discussion, you selected a target vulnerable to a terrorist attack; now devise a plan and protocol to protect it, given the resources at your disposal. Limit your approach to this problem to that from a local constituency. Identify the resources available to your community, or a community of your choice, that can be used to increase the needed security for this likely terrorist target. Also, address the problems you will face convincing others of the potential for a terrorist attack and the reasons why funding should be made available for a threat that may never materialize.
