DQ1 CONTAINMENT

Any attempt to understand the underlying problems associated with the government-initiated containment efforts of an encompassing, violent, physical threat requires, first, that information on the history of efforts to provide a secure homeland environment be discussed. The argument that the need for a strong central government existing to better control potential threats to public safety and national security has long been discussed. Begin the discussion by evaluating early efforts to secure borders, and travel across time with your responses to address the relationship between politics, national security, and security during the Cold War era.

DQ2 POST 9/11 POLICIES

Begin this discussion by addressing the question, what national security policies and practices have changed since 9/11 to better protect the American public? You might also briefly address the local security protocols, if such protocols exist, that you are familiar with from your jurisdiction. In one of your follow-up posts, address the effectiveness of the new policies, and then propose additional steps needed to secure the country from future terrorist attacks.
