Creating and Editing Charts

Excel can create many different kinds of charts. The variations within each chart type are almost limitless. Charts provide a visual representation of the data selected and often are a needed element to help others understand the data from a new perspective. Let's illustrate the various types of charts. Pick a chart and provide a description and a pictorial example. You can find an example online or create one of your own. If you find an example online, it will need an APA citation. If you create an example of your own, it does not need an APA citation.

Review your classmates' posts to make sure that you're not duplicating charts already discussed.

Week 3 Discussion

Data Analysis Tools

Excel provides many different ways in which to analyze data. Discuss the different methods by which you can analyze data in your spreadsheet. That is, try an Internet search for Data Analysis With Excel or Organizing Data With Excel. You can also do a search using some of the Excel tools you learned in this week's lesson.

Note: Please don't use the same methods. Show your research and creativity skills. One research post is required this week. Make sure it is unique. Please also make certain to focus on analysis methods from Chapter 4. We will tackle statistical analysis during Week 5. Data Consolidation

Discuss and compare the various grouping and consolidation tools available in Excel.

Under what circumstances would you use each of these features? Do they both serve the same purpose, or is each one used under different scenarios? Give examples of how each can be used.

Functions in Excel are grouped for easy reference. Locate the Insert Function button (Fx button) to bring up the Insert Function dialog box. How many different ways exist to look for a function? What are they? Select one of these functions and provide information on what it does and what it needs to work properly. Make sure you choose a unique function.
