Underestimating the power of "gendering" in society is commonplace. So much of what we think about ourselves, is to a great extent conditioned by society itself, whether we are someone who identifies as male, female, or neither. Take a look at "Gendered Speech Communities" in chapter 4. In what ways has your experience with "gendering" been good or bad? Perhaps both, no doubt.
