The study design that will be used is a cross sectional survey of a non-randomized group of mothers for the assessment of the perception of having immunization of children for prevention of health issues. In the design, the mothers are not grouped since the assessment needs to collect information on the attitude and the issues regarding the day to day medical care that is given to children. Study Participants/Sampling MethodsThe participants in this study will be mothers. One of the inclusion criteria that will be used is a mother or woman with age that qualifies them to be mothers. Specifically, mothers who have children under the age of two months to 24 months will be considered for the sample. In addition, mothers in hospitals have been considered for inclusion. Also, nursing mothers attending Women, Infants and Children (WIC) food and nutrition service centers in the city of Fountain valley, California will be considered for inclusion.Leuthold et al. (2015) indicates that the sampling procedure is vital for the achievement of authentic results. Along these lines, there is a need for the selection of an effective sampling procedure in the study. However, there is a need for the researchers to know that the study and at assessing the attitude and perception of mothers and hence a purposive sampling procedure will first be employed to eliminate the cases of having children or men being selected. Therefore, the exclusion criteria will be to eliminate children and men. Nonetheless, after the selection of the mothers, there is a need for one to trim the number of mothers and hence a simple sampling procedure will be employed.In the study, there will be no control studies used for comparison. As such, the study aims at getting information on the perception of the mothers as well as the attitude that the mothers have in the process of immunization. Another exclusion criteria will be the mothers who are taking part in the study will be discontinued if they ask for relieving since the participation should be voluntary. As such, one will be relieved if they ask for it and the discontinuation is as well given to a mother if they are found to be biased in the provision of information for instance if they are colluding with the others.
Data CollectionThe data collection process is simple and straightforward for the mothers and this is achieved by getting information from 200 mothers through cross sectional survey from WIC and OBGYN Clinic in the city of Fountain Valley Orange County, California. The specific information that is collected from the mothers includes the knowledge that they have on immunization, the attitude or the perception that they have towards the process of immunization. Additionally, the interview question will include a question on the practice of the mothers as well as the features of the mothers and the children in terms of the standard of health.The background question collected on the mother and the children include the demographics of the mother, the occupation of the mother and the level of education. The level of education is useful for determination of the extent to which the education level has on the attitude towards the process of immunization of children. The data will entail the question on the immunization that has been received by the child.
