COM 229 Module Three Activity Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
Color and typography can not only increase audience engagement and visual appeal, but also influence the mood, tone, or message of your communications. For this activity, you will use Adobe Illustrator to create effective designs that showcase your understanding of color theory and typography selection.
Prompt
Use the basic functions and tools in Adobe Illustrator to create three illustrations that represent the moods listed below. Apply your understanding of typography, color theory, and elements and principles of design to help with your creations. Make sure to label each illustration with the mood it’s intended to convey.
Select three moods to illustrate. Examples of possible moods are:
- Happiness
- Anger
- Stress
- Peace
- Excitement
In addition to your illustrations, please provide a three- to five-sentence rationale for your design choices for each of your three illustrations. To guide your rationales, consider the following questions:
- How did color theory inform your color selections?
- How does the typography you selected help convey the mood?
- How did you use elements and principles of design in your illustration?
