Introduction

In American criminal justice, there is a set progression of circumstances that occur: a complaint, an investigation, an arrest (or maybe an indictment), a court proceeding, and an outcome. However, criminal justice systems in other countries do not always follow the same rules or procedures, nor do they always provide the same civil rights and protections that we offer to American defendants and victims. In the following discussion, you will address those issues.

· Research one other major criminal justice system. In your initial post, compare and contrast the system to the American criminal justice system from the following perspectives: the way law enforcement personnel handle an investigation, the way a suspect is treated—including their civil rights and liberties, if any—the way their court system handles the case, and the potential outcomes of those cases.
