Carbohydrate Flowchart

Please make a flowchart

Start with the events that occur in the mouth and work your way through the gastrointestinal (GI) tract by explaining what happens to carbohydrates in the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.  Include the contributions of the pancreas to carbohydrate digestion, and be specific about which molecules are absorbed.  For example, carbohydrates must be broken down into monosaccharides in order to be absorbed. Be sure and give the specific names of any enzymes involved in the digestion process.  For example, in the small intestine, not only is pancreatic amylase active, but so are sucrase, lactase, and maltase, which are made by the enterocytes.  Provide the names of the substrates and products of these enzymes.
