Question

Is "Cancel Culture" antithetical to democratic principles?

If you are the respondent, your tasks are as follows: 

1) Read the two texts;

2) Write a brief 3-4 sentence summary for each of the two texts. Be sure to clearly identify the title and author of each text you are summarizing. Each summary should identify the author's question, the author's answer to the question (thesis), and the evidence used to support their thesis;

3) The two texts are linked by a central question that I've posed. You should write a short paragraph (4-8 sentences) responding to that question. That paragraph should include your direct answer to the question (create your own thesis or claim) and the evidence or reasoning supporting that answer. Your answer, based on your more-informed understanding, will be a factual claim. To defend your claim, provide evidence both the articles and your own experience. Also, state your reasoning to show why the evidence shows that your claim is true or valid. Your defense should use at least one paraphrase and one direct quote from the texts you read with the appropriate parenthetical citations;

4) Cite both texts in either APA or MLA at the end of your submission; and 

If you are replying to the respondent, do the following:

1) Write a paragraph of at least 6-7 sentences discussing whether you agree or disagree with the original poster (OP). Be sure to refer to the articles and to the original poster's ideas with parenthetical citations and/or attribution.
