Human Genomics is a brand new field of study that resulted from the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. It is an offshoot of genetics and specializes in the study of the health effects of the entire set of human genes, located on the 46 chromosomes in the nucleus of almost every cell in the human body.

The Human Genome Project was a joint effort by the U. S. Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Explore the following websites and then discuss the importance of this landmark project with your classmates.
