2. In this section, create an APA style abstract for the assigned article. An abstract precisely summarizes the essential content of an article. The summary should be accurate about the content, non-evaluative (no personal opinion), coherent and readable, and concise. Include key terms from the article. 3. In this section, you will evaluate how the article was written. In this kind of evaluation you’re not really considering content, opinions, or facts, but items such as organization, word choice, tone, and audience. Be sure to state what you think is the thesis or the main idea of the essay and other important organizational aspects of the article. State what you think the tone of the article is (this would be how you understand the attitude of the writer to the topic) and who you think the intended audience is. Also record significant instances of style or word choices (ex: why would an author use “apparatus” instead of “equipment”). The response length here will vary.

4. In this section, write your reaction to the article you read. In this part of the assignment your voice should dominate. It should be obvious that you have read the article, but I should know your opinion on the article not a summary of the content. This section demonstrates your ability to synthesize the reading material in order to make it your own. Additionally, you will need to incorporate a quote from the source using correct APA format for in text citations (covered in ch. 6 of the APA manual). Use the assigned quote from the directions or choose another one that better fits your response here.
